Self-Love and Better Built Foundations

Last week was supposed to be this hit the ground running type situation. Instead it was more like… what day is it?

This year has been non-stop. Non-stop hustle, non-stop planning, non-stop programming, non-stop learning, non-stop teaching, non-stop grieving, non-stop BS, JUST NON-STOP. We all have those days, weeks and sometimes even years with non-stop STUFF happening in our lives. That is why it is so important to take a time for yourself. Stop and rest. You schedule and do so many other things in life. Why not stop and take time for yourself? Prioritize what really needs to be done right now, and what can wait until later and schedule in some ME TIME. You don’t have to get everything done right now. You don’t have to check everything off on that list. You don’t have to say, “YES!” to every event, gathering. errand or project. You can literally just say, “No, thank you.”

Sometimes we get so caught up in what is happening in the past or future that we forget to take the time to be in the present moment. This is also where meditation comes into play and is so very important in self-care… SELF-LOVE. One of the simplest acts of self-love is self-care. When we love and care for ourselves is when we heal from life’s trauma and the everyday non-stop BS. Meditation is one of the key practices we can do to bring ourselves back to level ground. Of course there are many different types of meditation. On the MIND page of my website I go into detail on how to meditate. If you haven’t tried it before I highly, highly encourage it. Just 5 minutes a day greatly improves your quality of life.

This past week was full of self-care. Lots of little meditations, de-cluttering of the mind and home, Yoga, cardio, WATER, maybe a couple 3 or 5 beers, and plenty of rest. Taking this time for yourself is not selfish. It also can’t be something you tell yourself you, “don’t have time for.” You MUST take care of yourself. You MUST take time for yourself.  You MUST be there for yourself. Taking time to myself after everything that has happen so far this year was the LEAST I could do for myself.

The end of the week also ended with something special. Re-building of a bridge that was set on fire and walked away from. Sometimes no matter how angry you are at a person, no matter how hurt or betrayed you may think you feel, or how many flaming-bottle bombs you throw at a bridge, the people who are meant to be in your life will always end up back in your life. Together you can re-build the bridge you set a flame. This time the bridge is stronger because you have both learned what pieces you do and do not want on that bridge. You’re able to build a better foundation for a stronger relationship and that is an amazing thing.

Here’s to self-love and better built foundations! I love you, C!

Until next time…
